I am often asked if the past one year has gone so fast or not.
My answer is 'definitely YES, it went by so fast'!!
It seems like James was born yesterday.
My tummy before his arrival was considered a 'very small' and I was scheduled to have an post due ultrasound.
Despite of all my OB's concerns, James was born two days prior to the due date as a healthy baby.
He was a small baby. His birth weight was 2.8kg (52cm height) but
now he weights 10.3kg (76cm height).

ジェームス、お誕生日おめでとう！！
この１年は早かったか長かったか？と聞かれますが、答えは簡単。
”あっという間だった！”
ジェームスが産まれた来た日なんて昨日のことのようです。
予定日が近づいてもお腹が小さいと言われつづけていたので、ドクターは出産予定日の後にも
ウルトラサウンドの予約を入れていたほどでした。
結局, 予定日より2日早く誕生！
産まれてきたときは小さかったジェームス。産まれたときは身長52センチ、体重2，8キロ、
それが今は身長76センチ、体重10キロ越えてます。

Richard and I decided to bake a healthy baby's 1st birthday cake.
A few days before his BIG day, we went to get all the ingredients
and stopped at It's MY Party store to get the party decorations.
お誕生日にはリチャードと2人で赤ちゃんが安心して食べられる
お誕生日ケーキを作ることにしました。
誕生日数日前にお気に入りのスーパーでケーキの材料とパーティー用の飾りなどを買いに走りました。

James quickly learnt how to drop the ball into the chimney of this house.

ジェームス、このおもちゃのえんとつにボールを入れる事をすぐにマスターしました。
He also loved playing with the puzzles.
このパズルも気にいったみたいです。
Afterwards, Richard started baking the cake.
Meantime I was running to the supermarket across the street to get cream cheese, the major ingredient to make a cream cheese frosting.
Right after Richard finished the cake, we headed to the restaurant called ONE! :)
プレゼントを開けた後、リチャードはケーキつくりをはじめ、私は向かいのスーパーに
フロスティングに必要な材料、クリームチーズを買いに走りました。
なんとかケーキを作り終えたあと、ONEというレストランへ直行。
We had a lunch at Congee Palace, a very casual eatery before but this was our first time
to dine at the upscale restaurant. We wonder how it would go..
and there was only one way to find out.
We brought lots of 'entertainment package'
including toys and small fliers he loves to play.
お粥レストランでカジュアルなランチはとった事があるのですが、ちょっと気取ったレストランでの
食事はこれがはじめて！さてどうなるかなと。。。でも試してみないと分からないよねって事で。。
ジェームスがぐずらないようにおもちゃや、ジェームスが遊ぶのが好きな広告や雑誌などの
”エンターテイメントパッケージ”を準備して行きました。
He was very well behaved at the table.
ジェームスとってもお行儀よくしてくれました。
We ordered something James was able to taste.
This is the movie that he was about to try Tomato and Basil Risotto then olive baguette.
ジェームスが食べられる物をオーダーしました。
これはトマトとバジルのリゾットと味見してオリーブブレッド
を食べているところ。ジェームスはパンが大好き。
Next day, we had a birthday cake! (accompanies with a grass of Champagne for adult humans.)
It was a Triple Layered Apple and Carrot Cinnamon Cake with sager free Cream Cheese Frosting. Decorated with raspberries, strawberries and Champagne grapes.
It was very tasty!
翌日、お誕生日ケーキを味見。（大人はシャンペン付き）
キャロットケーキ、アップル＆シナモン味に砂糖の入っていないクリームチーズのフロスティング。
ラスベリー、いちご、ここではあまり見かけないシャンペングレープの飾りです。
James enjoyed his very first cake!!
ジェームスはとっても気にいってくれたみたいです。
Momo and Pinot enjoyed eating crumbles on the floor.
Later on, they ate two HUGE slices.
ももとピノは床に落ちたケーキのかすを食べてます。
その後は大きなケーキをあげました。

August 15th, we had a very nice get-together with baby
Ammolite and her mom and dad on Centre Island.
We took the same pre-natal classes at the Womens College Hospital.
We didn't get a chance to exchange our numbers but we happened to share the
semi private room after our little ones' arrivals.
We still didn't get a chance to talk a lot since we moved to the
private room.
One afternoon, we met again at the pediatrician's waiting room! Since then, Ammolite's mom
and I have talked a lot. We used to take our babies to the same Baby Time at Mother Craft until June.
お誕生日の後、15日、トロント センターアイランドでアンモライトちゃん家族と
合流しました。
アンモライトちゃんのお母さん、お父さんとは1年以上前自分たちの赤ちゃんが産まれる前に
”赤ちゃんクラス”で出会いました。あまり話す機会がないままクラスは終了。
その後、お互いの赤ちゃんが産まれた後病院のセミプライベートルームで偶然ご一緒。
私たちがラッキーのもプライベートルームに移れたので、この時もあまり
話す事なく終わってしまい。。（というかお互い必死だった？）。。
そして、その後、ある小児科で偶然に。
それ以来のお付き合いです。6月くらいまでは、あるセンターの
”ベイビータイム”に一緒に参加していました。
When we got together, James was hungry and a bit irritable.
久しぶりの対面直後、ジェームスはちょっとぐずりぎみ。
お腹すいていたのです。
We had a very enjoyable time together to get caught up.
お互いにこの1年を振り返る楽しいひと時でした。
They were born on the same day. (James came to the world six hours earlier than Ammolite.)
It's hard to believe that these two babies were about the same weight at birth.
この2人の赤ちゃん、産まれた日が一緒（ジェームスが6時間早く産まれてます）。
産まれたときの体重はほぼ一緒。。とは信じがたいです。
We weren't able to celebrate James' birthday on his actural birthday with his groundparents
BUT we'll visit you shortly. We'll have anther BIG party together!!
We originally purchased this baby carrier for our 'original baby' Momo. She had some rides a few years ago back. Now it comes useful for our human baby!! Momo posed on Centre Island, summer 2007.
On this video, Boo Boo didn't look happy but he was singing a whole time during his over three hour trip. The only thing he wasn't into was his helmet.
After Boo Boo eats first formula of the day, he usually plays in his room for about an hour and a half to two hours until his breakfast. Pinot gets up when Boo Boo gets up so they always play together. This clip was shot while I was cleaning up after the diaper change. He was ready to go!
Boo Boo enjoys standing & holding on his big elephant. He also loves offering his toy to Pinot. Funny enough, Pinot often brings his toy to Boo Boo while he's in the playpen. The blue elephant Boo Boo holds in hand is one of the toys my mom and dad have kept from my childhood. I am grateful that they had kept some of my toys, my drawings, clothing and books for a VERY long time even if they moved a several times.
Today I am able to upload many movies on 'temperamental' Blogger so I should upload more... SO..

Richard and I love the way he makes noise. Boo Boo pulled this mobile really hard and he broke it after this video was shot. :( This was MY favorite thing so I am glad that it's still fixable!!!
This blog is delicated to James' grandparents in Japan who have been overjoyed by the birth of their first grandchild. They've had difficulties to open the attached videos with our emails. We don't want them to miss any moment how Boo Boo grows up. SO mainly short movies will be posted on this blog. Oh, Boo Boo is James' nickname.
Not so ordinary for a 13 month old baby. :)
